Posted by on 14 August 2013 10:13 AM

UNH's license only covers the core SPSS program. To order IBM SPSS Complex Samples (or any of the other add-ons for SPSS), you will need to purchase a license from IBM (It's around $529). Our sales representatives contact information is below:

UNH's Customer ID is 100411786. The CD Serial is 10159980. The IOD's Site ID is: 3489044

Please note that it takes 3-4 days for them to process the SPSS License. If you need SPSS sooner, IBM can send you a temporary license activation code that will expire in two weeks, until the order comes through.

Installing Complex Samples

You will need a .csv file from IBM containing the authorization code. Once you have this, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the .csv spreadsheet from IBM containing the authorization code. Copy the authorization code from the first field.
  2. Navigate to your SPSS Statistics folder, which is probably located at C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\21\
  3. Right-click on the lservrc file, and select properties
  4. Untick read-only
  5. Click on the Start Menu
  6. Type cmd, right-click on cmd.exe, then select Run as administrator
  7. Type CD <Path to SPSS>
    1. For example, type CD C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\21\ if your path to SPSS is C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\21\
  8. Type licenseactivator.exe "authorizationcodefromstep1" and press enter
    1. For example, if your autorization code was 4f5b08a0840aa524dcd7, type licenseactivator.exe "4f5b08a0840aa524dcd7" and press enter.
  9. It should tell you that authorization suceeded, and not report any errors.

You should now have IBM SPSS Complex Samples installed and activated on your computer. If you run into any issues with this, please submit a ticket!

Once you have the license authorization code, which should come in a .csv spreadsheet file, copy the code from the "AuthorizationCode" field.
